I know I am late on this, but the new Gatsby soundtrack doesn't make sense to me. It consists of all new songs. The authentication of this movie seems to be failing miserably. Although I have not see the movie itself yet, and cannot judge, by the looks of the trailer it looks incredibly tacky and just too much.
Now back to the soundtrack. People of the 1920s listened to Cole Porter, Louis Armstrong, and Duke Ellington. Not Jay-Z, or Will.I.Am.
To create the feel of the 1920, one of Americas most prosperous decades, then you must stick to the facts.
By taking new songs, and adding trumpets and saxophones does not make the song sound old. It makes it sound cheesy and awful.

Or taking the Charleston and stealing some lyrics by Cher does not make a song unique.

Lana's song was the only one I was okay with because she is Lana Del Rey and its different.
It would be okay with me if they played a few old songs here and there, but they didn't. I asked people who have seen the movie on that one. I think this book is ruining a timeless piece of literature.
I also think the cast was horrible. Leonardo DiCaprio isnt even a good actor in my opinion- he tries way too hard in all his films.
